- Get 1 tbsp minced garlic
- Take 1 tbsp grated ginger
- Prepare 2 tbsp juice of fresh lime
- Make ready 1 tbsp Garam masala
- Take 1 tbsp curry paste ' not the yellow curry powder ' ( I like to use Patak's brand )
- Make ready 1 tbsp Salt
- Get Butter chicken sauce
- Get 1 liter Neutral tomato sauce ( not the store bought jarred type )
- Make ready 500 ml 35 % cream
- Prepare 1/2 cup sweet butter
- Take 1 cup finely diced white onion
- Prepare 2 tbsp curry paste
- Take 2 tbsp Garam masala
- Take 1 tbsp sweet paprika or hot
I adapted my own butter chicken recipe for this homemade veganized version and it will rival any Indian Restaurant! It turned out better than I even expected. The tofu works so well, has the best texture, kind of like chicken, moist, tender and slightly chewy. WHY IS IT CALLED BUTTER CHICKEN.
Instructions to make Butter chicken ( my version ):
- Preheat oven to 350
- Place chicken on baking tray lined with parchment paper or foil and bake for 10-15 minutes.
- In a medium sized pot on medium heat add butter, onions, garam masala, paprika and curry paste.
- Sweat for 5-10 minutes. stir well as to prevent burning. Add tomato sauce then cream. and bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and add chicken. Return to stove and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
