  1. Prepare 1 roast
  2. Make ready 1 small onion
  3. Prepare 1 tbsp beef base(I used Tones beef base)
  4. Get 1 packages seasoning(I used the seasoning that came with the corned beef)
  5. Take 1 head cabbage
  6. Get 1 lb bacon
  7. Take 1/2 cup water
  8. Prepare 1/4 cup red wine vinegar

Variations: Serve with a dish of grainy mustard. Shred the corned beef with two forks if you prefer that consistency! Instructions to make Corned beef and cabbage:
  1. Place roast in crock pot.
  2. Mix beef base with water. Sprinkle seasons on roast and add base.
  3. Turn crock pot on low heat. (I put mine on for 10 hours.)
  4. After it was done I put it on for another 10 hours.
  5. Once it was done, I left the crock pot on warm and started the cabbage. At this point put your oven on 350°
  6. Cut the cabbage in small pieces and place them in water to get soft. Almost like a tender crisp. About 25-30 minutes. Set your burner between med and hi heat.
  7. Cut your bacon in one inch squares, place on baking sheet and put in oven till just cooked.
  8. Cabbage should be perfect. Drain water. Take bacon out of oven and put the cabbage on pan with bacon and drippings. Stir making sure everything is combined. Add your vinegar. Stir again.
  9. Bake for another 30 -45 minutes

Patrick's Day a few years ago. Now it's a regular in my menu planning. Add the cabbage on top of the potatoes and add onion and carrot on top of the cabbage. Check the cabbage to see if it is tender. You shouldn't undercook it and it's hard to overcook it.
