To get started with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can have feta saganaki using 4 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.
The ingredients needed to make Feta saganaki:
- Get 3-4 sliced pieces feta cheese
- Prepare 1/4 cup flower
- Get 1 shot cognac
- Prepare 3-4 tbs oil I like olive oil
Instead of being fried, the cheese is usually covered with Brandy extract, and set aflame at the table. In a small bowl, beat the egg with the oregano. Dip each slice of feta in egg, shake off excess, and coat in flour. I will always keep Feta on standby now as this makes for a very impressive light.
Instructions to make Feta saganaki:
- Cut the feta in small square pieces
- Now put the flour in a plate
- In a medium skillet add the oil and heat it up to medium high temperature
- Coat the feta and put it in the pan the trick to this is you want to turn it only one time so make sure it gets nice and golden
- Now turn the feta and when it gets golden on the bottom side add the cognac AND WATCH YOUR EYEBROWS IT MAY FIRE UP A BIT OPA.
- Now you can top it with a bit of lemon juice

Dip them into the beaten egg, then coat entirely with flour. Heat the oil in a frying pan until very hot. Remove and drain on kitchen paper. Garnish the shrimp saganaki with chopped parsley or dill and serve while still hot. Enjoy this traditional Greek shrimp saganaki recipe with a cold glass of ouzo!
